the virtual theatre co

With the live theatre arts community coming to a halt amidst the pandemic, middle and high school’s performing arts programs have also come to a halt. Theatre students from around the country are not getting the same training or performance opportunities they once received.

With this, NYU Tisch Drama student Alyssa Jiwani took it upon herself to bring back the joy of arts education through her online theatre education organization, “The Virtual Theatre Co.”

The Virtual Theatre Co's mission is to cultivate a safe, accessible, inclusive, and diverse space for young creatives all around the world!

This theatre company is for students, run by students. The production team consists of college students from all over the world from top performing arts programs such as NYU Tisch, Berklee College of Music, Pace, and Boston Conservatory (to name a few).

The company offers a variety of online classes such as (and not limited to): singing, acting, various types of dance, improvisation, and audition preparation for college and beyond. The company will also put on several productions throughout the school year, which will be for middle and high schoolers.

The Virtual Theatre Company is also starting a new works program called Virtual New Works (VNW), founded by Rylynn Davis and Eliana Coe. This unique program will offer classes and workshops about writing new plays and musicals, and bring that work to life on a virtual platform. This branch of TVTC will give a platform for feedback for youth new works created outside of TVTC.

The Virtual Theatre Co's mission is to inspire young artists to further their arts education journey. This outlet will allow them to express their unique individual talents and passions, even during a global pandemic--and beyond!
